We are here to take the guesswork out of addressing this concern and will tailor a personalized treatment plan for you to keep your hair full and luscious.

What Is Hair Loss?
Everyone sheds 80-100 strands of hair per day. Maintaining your full hair is due to a delicate balance of shedding and regrowth. When this balance is disrupted by hormones, stress, medications, deficiencies and/or diseases we can observe hair thinning and loss because there is not enough regrowth to replace what is being shed.

Types of Hair Loss

  • Androgenetic Alopecia: Commonly referred to as male pattern hair loss or female pattern hair loss. This is a hereditary condition and the most common type of hair loss.
  • Telogen Effluvium: Another common type of hair loss. This is due to a medical event or condition but it rarely leads to complete baldness. This causes more hair to be shed, around 300-500 strands a day. Postpartum hair loss would be an example.
  • Anagen Effluvium: This type of hair loss is the result of a medical treatment, such as chemotherapy that disrupts the hair growth cycle. After treatment is complete, hair will usually grow back on its own.
  • Alopecia Areata: This is an autoimmune condition where your immune system attacks the hair follicle. This causes the hair to fall out, and also prevents new hair from growing.

Diagnosing Hair Loss
Hair loss can be triggered by several factors, including, genetics, hormonal changes, stress, medical treatments, dietary deficiencies, and/or infections. In order for us to provide you with the best possible treatment and outcome at Platinum Medicine we will take the time to fully investigate the root cause of your hair loss.

We will make sure to complete an in depth medical and family history, a thorough physical examination of the head and if deemed necessary we can even complete blood tests and biopsies.


Available Treatment for Hair Loss
Once we have determined the reason for your hair loss we can start to discuss a personalized treatment plan to restore your hair and get you back to feeling your best. Treatment options could include, Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) injections, laser therapy, medication, or hair transplants.
